Study Trip to the Slovenian Parliamentary Elections: Strengthening Election Observation in the Framework of DIVE

The European Exchange, together with The Peace Institute, organized a study visit from 16 to 23 March 2026 to Slovenia, as part of the DIVE (Democracy, Inclusion, Voter Engagement) project.

The trip brought together 13 election observers and experts from DIVE partner organizations for an intensive programme of meetings with election stakeholders, and attending election day procedures.

Participants had the opportunity to meet with political parties, the national election commission, Slovenian ministries, international observer missions, and independent experts, gaining first-hand insight into how regulations on citizen election observation in Slovenia are being implemented in practice. The trip also fostered exchange between seasoned election observers and those newer to the field from across the EU, sharing methodologies, experiences, and learn from one another in a live electoral environment.

Post-election Roundtable on 24 March 2026

Following election day, project DIVE hosted a post-election roundtable bringing together senior diplomats, ambassadors, international observers, and leading civil society organizations to discuss key takeaways and recommendations.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants who joined the study trip, and to the organizations we visited for sharing their time and insights.

A great thank you to Lana Zdravković and her team at The Peace Institute for their impeccable support on the ground and their invaluable role in setting up this study trip.

We are very grateful to Commit Global for providing us with the Vote Monitor App, part of the Infrastructure for Good developed by Commit Global.
